Ahoy there,
Lately the thought of getting a VT as a daily has crossed my mind and figured theres quite a few people on here with chronodores and might be able to help me out a bit, basicaly just wanting to know some pros and cons of them, looking at a standard auto sedan most proably. Mainly drive line, gbox's, diffs, any weaknesses etc that are a common issue. Also if anyone knows how much rego is and rough price on 3rd party insurance? Any helps apreciated
Cheers

Edit: oh yeah rough idea on price aswell, the quokka tells me from around 3.5k-5k

If its a daily and you don't mod it, it'll go forever. Those V6's are like fkn taxi motors.

Nah wont be any engine mods or anything at all
Only mods really would be a fresh lick of paint just coz itll cost me next to nothing.
My mate just said he heard something about VTs being one of the worst models of commodores to have problems? figured id ask

yeh the vt s1's had a heap of trouble when new, but now they are what 10 odd years old so id say they have been rectified by now.

but brakes come to mind killer shudder and bad standard disk replacements, areas prone to rust, windscreen edges, inside of doors, and the door check straps. and the fan a/c switches are usually fault, there also heavy and slow haha, have u thought about looking at vs's as you will get one in a heap better condition for the same money than a vt..

my olds drive a vt and nothing to big has gone wrong,no brake shutters or anything, they did have to get a new timing cover at the start of the year, that was the only major thing but it has done over 300K kms,and most of the paint has come off the door handles to,hasn't rusted or anything

Thanks for that link bill, im not fussed on power the reason i would get one is there fairly cheap and have the creature comforts, something to put around in till i have enough money tucked away so i can start my real project. Im not a huge fan of commodores either, im not really into VS's, VTs are a bit ugly but thats a good thing as it wont turn into a money pit lol.

hey beau,

im paying 3rd party with just car 450 with 1 reckless  charge.

as for faults only major one that i had was the alternator and when that goes everything else does..
max's vt, a 50th anniversary, has replaced heads/gearbox/radiator x2/alternator and a few other bits and pieces.
so it will all come down to how its driven, thrash it and it will fall apart just like anything else 10 years old.

jeebus my 3rd party's 110 a year lol, whats a reckless charge? is that so if you hit someone will being a mad dog they'll still cover you for 1 instance? If i get ruddys 900 i think im gonna go down the VT road.

no reckless is now if you get caught at more then 45km/h+ over the limit :(
it's just so if i hit some poor cunt by accident i don't have to pay for the damages..doesn't cover my car obviously though but yeah.

Hey bill

My VX S2 wagon has brake shudder, is it caused by rotors?
